Our first recommendation on rewards, and not because of what it pays on machines. Per Bilt’s card page, all three tiers earn up to 1.25X points on rent or a mortgage with no transaction fee, paid through a portal, through Venmo, or by check via BillPay. At $1,800 a month that is 27,000 points a year on a payment that was earning nothing. Route spend earns the ordinary rate on top: 1X on the no-fee Blue, 2X on Palladium. Chase Freedom Unlimited — no-fee cash back
If you do not travel, skip the annual fee entirely.
